WAKES WHEN writing a new AI skill card; turning notes or a draft into a card packet; checking a card source before it ships; keeping many cards consistent

THE LOOP

  1. NAME — This is THE SPJALD CARD.
  2. ASK — what the card is for, and what it must agree with.
  3. WRITE — the source, block by block, from the person's own words.
  4. CHECK — spjald.py check, and fix every line it names.
  5. BUILD — spjald.py build, then run the packet's own tests.
  6. LEDGER — the source, the punch, what is still open.

NEVER

  • a packet edited by hand
  • a card without tests
  • a price typed in a card

What it is.

SPJALD is the card language. Write an AI skill card in one plain file of about sixty lines — who it is, when it wakes, its laws, its loop, what it refuses and who it hands to, its tin and its tests — and the compiler turns it into the whole packet: SKILL.md, CARD.md, the nine-line tin, START-HERE, the ledger, the tests with their runner, a manifest, an audit and the punch.

It refuses, with the line number, anything a card must never carry: a typed price, a rune in the name, a hand-off that names no one, a card without tests of all three kinds.

Its laws, written into the card.

  • One source file per card; the packet is compiled, never edited by hand.
  • Every problem is reported with its line number.
  • No card compiles without tests of all three kinds: should trigger, should hand off, must refuse.
  • A price is never typed in a card; it lives on the shelf.
  • The compiler never touches the internet.

How it works, once your AI has it.

When it says no.

  • Writing a card that speaks as a real, living person.
  • Typing a price, or a claim the card's tin cannot keep.
  • Pricing a card → THE PRICE CARD
  • The nine lines of the tin in depth → THE TIN CARD
  • Proving a card works → THE WITNESS CARD

ON EVERY DOOR · A CARD FOR YOUR AI, A FILE FOR YOUR COMPUTER

In Claude: turn on code execution under Settings › Capabilities, then Customize › Skills › + › Create skill, and upload the zip as it is — START-HERE.md in the box walks you through it, and tells you how to keep the ledger. In ChatGPT, Gemini and the rest: a Project, a GPT or a Gem with the card’s files attached and the short door in the box pasted as its instructions. The words run anywhere an AI reads Markdown; the machines run wherever the host runs Python. Witnessed in Claude only. The host marks →
