THE NETWORKING CARD · the people you know, kept as you would
WAKES WHEN someone is building a network, a community or partners, or keeping up with people they met
THE LOOP
add · who, where, what they care about
touch · each word, and the next step
due · who is owed a word today
path --to · the line of introductions
forget · when anyone asks
NEVER
Look anyone up or scrape a profile
Keep an address, a number or a link
Refuse to forget a person who asks
IT MAKES add — someone met, written; touch — a conversation, and the next step; due — who is owed a word, the most overdue first; path — the shortest line of introductions; forget — every line about them removed, their name struck from the rest.
THE STANDARD what you were told or saw, nothing more; no address, no number, no link; the next step is written down; introductions through people who know each other; forgetting is complete; nothing is sent.

IT CAN BE WRONG an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong and can invent a number, a rule, a name or a date; check what matters against your own records and the source; the risk is yours. THE-CLAUSES.md rides in the packet and is part of the licence.

What it is.
Keeps a person's own network the way they would keep it themselves, on their own computer: add writes someone met — where and how, what they care about, the next step, how often to keep in touch, who they know; touch writes each conversation and moves the next step on; due names who is owed a word today, most overdue first; path finds the shortest line of introductions from the owner to someone they want to meet, through people who know each other; forget removes every line about a person and strikes their name from everyone else's. The ledger holds what the owner was told or saw — never what was looked up or scraped — and refuses addresses, numbers and links.
It carries a machine that shows its working: add — someone met, written; touch — a conversation, and the next step; due — who is owed a word, the most overdue first; path — the shortest line of introductions; forget — every line about them removed, their name struck from the rest — 10 checks in its selftest, every command on the record. It will never look anyone up or scrape a profile; never keep an address, a number or a link; never refuse to forget a person who asks.
Six laws, written into the card.
They are in the card itself, so the AI follows them.
WHAT YOU WERE TOLD OR SAW, NOTHING MOREA person is written as the owner knows them; nothing is looked up, scraped or inferred about anyone.
NO ADDRESS, NO NUMBER, NO LINKWhere to reach someone stays in the owner's own address book; the ledger refuses them.
THE NEXT STEP IS WRITTEN DOWNEvery person and every conversation carries the next step, so a network is kept by doing, not remembering.
INTRODUCTIONS THROUGH PEOPLE WHO KNOW EACH OTHERThe line to someone new runs only through people the owner has met and who they said they know.
FORGETTING IS COMPLETEA person who asks to be forgotten is removed entirely, and their name struck from everyone else's lines; it is the one rewrite the ledger allows.
NOTHING IS SENTThe card writes no message and contacts no one; the owner does the talking.
What rides in the card.
In the card’s own voice, with a machine that shows its working.

THE MACHINEnetwork.py · five commandsadd — someone met, written; touch — a conversation, and the next step; due — who is owed a word, the most overdue first; path — the shortest line of introductions; forget — every line about them removed, their name struck from the rest. Every command prints its working and refuses a bad input; 10 checks in its selftest, every command on the record.
What it does once your AI has it.
add Someone met, written
touch A conversation, and the next step
due Who is owed a word, the most overdue first
path The shortest line of introductions
forget Every line about them removed, their name struck from the rest
On the record Three people written as the owner met them; Rowan due a word, twenty-five days over; a word written and the next step moved on; the line to someone new run through the person who knows her; and Rowan forgotten on request — both lines removed and the name struck from Ilse's.
What it will never do.
It will never look anyone up or scrape a profile; never keep an address, a number or a link; never refuse to forget a person who asks.
The ledger knows only what the owner wrote; a line of introductions through someone who has not agreed to introduce anyone is a line, not a promise. It is a file on the owner's computer and is as private as that computer. The address check refuses the common forms of an address, a number or a link; it is a guard, not a guarantee. It is an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong, so check what matters against your own records and the source.

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE
Asked before the wire.
What does it need from me?
Add · who, where, what they care about. It asks first for the people the owner has met, as they would describe them, and how often they want to keep in touch with each.
Does it send anything anywhere?
No. The machine is a standard-library Python program that runs on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere; the words run wherever an AI reads Markdown. No server, no account, no key.
What is on the record?
The self-test (10/10) and every command run on real example inputs, pasted into WITNESS.md as they printed; the punch on the face is the SHA-256 of SKILL.md, so a downloaded copy can be checked against this room.
Can it be wrong?
Yes — it is an AI reading a text file. The ledger knows only what the owner wrote; a line of introductions through someone who has not agreed to introduce anyone is a line, not a promise. It is a file on the owner's computer and is as private as that computer. The address check refuses the common forms of an address, a number or a link; it is a guard, not a guarantee.
What will it never do?
It will never look anyone up or scrape a profile; never keep an address, a number or a link; never refuse to forget a person who asks.
