NEVER
Write a claim the owner cannot prove

Choose the position for the owner
IT MAKES position — the statement; every gap and empty word named; gap — per attribute: OURS, CONTESTED, BEHIND or OPEN TERRITORY; check — empty words, claims with no proof, the tagline's length, by line.
THE STANDARD strategy before surface; seven parts or a gap; a claim carries its proof; empty words are named; territory is read, not wished; the owner chooses.

What it is.
Writes and reads a brand's position before a logo or a page is made: position assembles the positioning statement from its seven parts — who it is for, what they need, the brand, what it is, what it does for them, the alternative they would choose instead, and the proof — holding every missing part open by name and naming empty words (best, leading, innovative) and an audience of everyone; gap reads a competitive map of brands by attributes scored one to five and names, per attribute, where the brand leads alone, ties, stands behind, and the open territory nobody scores four on; check reads a messaging file sentence by sentence for empty words, claims with no number or reason behind them, and a tagline over eight words.
It carries a machine that shows its working: position — the statement; every gap and empty word named; gap — per attribute: OURS, CONTESTED, BEHIND or OPEN TERRITORY; check — empty words, claims with no proof, the tagline's length, by line — 12 checks in its selftest, every command on the record. It will never write a claim the owner cannot prove; never call everyone the audience; never choose the position for the owner.
Six laws, written into the card.
They are in the card itself, so the AI follows them.
STRATEGY BEFORE SURFACEThe position is written before a mark, a page or a campaign; the card says so when the work starts the other way round.
SEVEN PARTS OR A GAPA positioning statement with a part missing is printed with the gap held open by name, never filled with a guess.
A CLAIM CARRIES ITS PROOFA sentence that says the brand is the only, the first, the fastest or the best carries a number or a reason, or it is named.
EMPTY WORDS ARE NAMEDBest, leading, innovative, world-class, seamless and their cousins say nothing a customer can check.
TERRITORY IS READ, NOT WISHEDThe map is the owner's scores, from the public record and their own customers; open territory is where nobody scores four of five.
THE OWNER CHOOSESThe card writes the frame and reads the words; the position is the owner's to take.
What rides in the card.
In the card’s own voice, with a machine that shows its working.

What it does once your AI has it.
position The statement; every gap and empty word named
gap Per attribute: OURS, CONTESTED, BEHIND or OPEN TERRITORY
check Empty words, claims with no proof, the tagline's length, by line
On the record A whole position read as one statement; a thin one held its gaps open and named an audience of everyone and three empty words; the map named speed as ours alone, craft contested, price behind and warmth open territory; the messaging read named a long tagline, an empty word and a claim with no proof, and let the claim with its figure pass.
What it will never do.
It will never write a claim the owner cannot prove; never call everyone the audience; never choose the position for the owner.
The card reads words and scores; it cannot tell whether a position is true of the business or whether customers will believe it — the owner's research and customers decide that. Its list of empty words and its test for a claim are plain rules; a claim can be honest and still be named, and a hollow one can slip past. The competitive map is only as fair as the scores typed into it, which should come from the public record. It is an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong, so check what matters against your own records and the source.

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE
Asked before the wire.
What does it need from me?
Position · the seven parts, gaps held open. It asks first for who it is for, the alternative they use today, and the proof — then the map and the messaging, if there are any.
Does it send anything anywhere?
No. The machine is a standard-library Python program that runs on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere; the words run wherever an AI reads Markdown. No server, no account, no key.
What is on the record?
The self-test (12/12) and every command run on real example inputs, pasted into WITNESS.md as they printed; the punch on the face is the SHA-256 of SKILL.md, so a downloaded copy can be checked against this room.
Can it be wrong?
Yes — it is an AI reading a text file.
What will it never do?
It will never write a claim the owner cannot prove; never call everyone the audience; never choose the position for the owner.
