THE EXCLUSION CARD — the LSC-1 face
THE CARD AS TEXT · FOR EYES AND FOR MACHINES

THE EXCLUSION CARD · why electrons stack in shells

WAKES WHEN someone asks for an electron arrangement, shells, or the shape of the periodic table

THE LOOP

  1. fill <element> · the arrangement
  2. mark the measured exceptions
  3. shells · what each one holds
  4. table · hydrogen to xenon
  5. why · the rule in plain words

NEVER

  • Print the simple order where it is wrong
  • Guess an arrangement past xenon
  • Put three electrons in one orbital

IT MAKES fill — the arrangement and unpaired count; shells — what each shell holds; table — hydrogen to xenon; why — the rule in plain words.

THE STANDARD two to an orbital; the order, then the facts; unpaired counted; stops at xenon; short form and long; plain words.

CITE THIS CARDTHE EXCLUSION CARD, Edition 1. Lund Studio LLC, Westminster, Colorado. https://lundr.tech/?view=exclusion-card. Punch B5BBF598902CB549439476CE. Retrieved 2026-10-11.

What it is.

Works out the exclusion principle of 1925, that no two electrons in an atom share a state: fill gives an element's electron arrangement from hydrogen to xenon, filling in the usual order and correcting to the measured arrangement where nature breaks it (chromium, copper, palladium and others), with how many electrons sit unpaired; shells gives how many each shell and subshell can hold; table lists the first fifty-four; why says in plain words why the rule keeps atoms their size and matter solid.

It carries a machine that shows its working: fill — the arrangement and unpaired count; shells — what each shell holds; table — hydrogen to xenon; why — the rule in plain words — 8 checks in its selftest, every command on the record. It will never print the simple order where it is wrong; never guess an arrangement past xenon; never put three electrons in one orbital. It never helps design, make, grow, enhance or spread a pathogen or toxin, or plan work meant to harm.

Six laws, written into the card.

They are in the card itself, so the AI follows them.

TWO TO AN ORBITALEach holds two electrons of opposite spin and never a third; every count follows from that.
THE ORDER, THEN THE FACTSThe usual filling order is used, and the eight measured exceptions up to xenon override it.
UNPAIRED COUNTEDElectrons spread across a subshell's orbitals before they pair; the card counts the unpaired ones.
STOPS AT XENONPast 54 the exceptions multiply; the card refuses rather than guess, and points to measured tables.
SHORT FORM AND LONGEach arrangement is given after its noble-gas core and in full.
PLAIN WORDSwhy explains what the rule does for matter without equations.

What rides in the card.

In the card’s own voice, with a machine that shows its working.

THE GUIDEreferences/THE-LAWS.md
THE MACHINEexclusion.py · four commandsfill — the arrangement and unpaired count; shells — what each shell holds; table — hydrogen to xenon; why — the rule in plain words. Every command prints its working and refuses a bad input; 8 checks in its selftest, every command on the record.

What it does once your AI has it.

  • fill The arrangement and unpaired count
  • shells What each shell holds
  • table Hydrogen to xenon
  • why The rule in plain words
  • On the record Iron is [Ar] 3d6 4s2 with four unpaired; chromium's measured [Ar] 3d5 4s1 overrides the simple order; palladium has no 5s electron; the shells hold 2, 8, 18 and 32; the table from hydrogen to xenon; and why the rule keeps matter solid.

What it will never do.

It will never print the simple order where it is wrong; never guess an arrangement past xenon; never put three electrons in one orbital. It never helps design, make, grow, enhance or spread a pathogen or toxin, or plan work meant to harm.

Neutral atoms in their ground state, up to xenon: ions, excited states and molecules are out of its reach. The arrangements are the measured ones; the reasons for the exceptions are only named. It is an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong, so check what matters against your own records and the source.

why · THE RULE IN PLAIN WORDS
$ python3 scripts/exclusion.py why
Electrons cannot all crowd into the lowest state, so each atom keeps a size; push two atoms together and their electrons would have to share states, which the rule forbids. That refusal, not the electric push alone, is why matter is solid and why you do not sink through the floor. In a dying star it holds up a white dwarf against its own gravity.

THE NUMBERS, NAMES AND DATES IN THESE RUNS ARE THE STUDIO’S OWN EXAMPLES, INVENTED FOR THE RECORD; NO REAL COMPANY, PERSON OR PROPERTY IS NAMED.

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE

Asked before the wire.

What does it need from me?

Fill <element> · the arrangement. It asks first for an element by symbol, name or number, from 1 to 54.

Does it send anything anywhere?

No. The machine is a standard-library Python program that runs on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere; the words run wherever an AI reads Markdown. No server, no account, no key.

What is on the record?

The self-test (8/8) and every command run on real example inputs, pasted into WITNESS.md as they printed; the punch on the face is the SHA-256 of SKILL.md, so a downloaded copy can be checked against this room.

Can it be wrong?

Yes — it is an AI reading a text file. Neutral atoms in their ground state, up to xenon: ions, excited states and molecules are out of its reach. The arrangements are the measured ones; the reasons for the exceptions are only named.

What will it never do?

It will never print the simple order where it is wrong; never guess an arrangement past xenon; never put three electrons in one orbital. It never helps design, make, grow, enhance or spread a pathogen or toxin, or plan work meant to harm.
