IT CAN BE WRONG an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong and can invent a number, a rule, a name or a date; check what matters against your own records and the source; the risk is yours. THE-CLAUSES.md rides in the packet and is part of the licence.

What it is.
Works out the pointing law of 1954, T = a + b log₂(1 + D/W), for clicking, tapping or reaching: id gives the bits of a move from the distance and the target's width; time gives the time for your own a and b; size gives the width a target needs to be hit within a time; targets reads widths against the published minimum target sizes for the web, 24 and 44 CSS pixels; fit finds a and b from your own measured moves.
It carries a machine that shows its working: id — the bits of the move; time — the time; size — the width needed; targets — against 24 and 44 px; fit — your own a and b — 8 checks in its selftest, every command on the record. It will never present the default a and b as measured; never pass a target under 24 px as fine; never confuse width with height of a long target. It never helps design, make, grow, enhance or spread a pathogen or toxin, or plan work meant to harm.
Six laws, written into the card.
They are in the card itself, so the AI follows them.
BITS, NOT PIXELSTwice as far is exactly as hard as half as wide; the card works in bits.
A AND B ARE YOURSThe defaults are a starting guess and say so; fit replaces them with your measurements.
PUBLISHED MINIMUMS24 CSS px for level AA and 44 for level AAA in the web's accessibility guidelines.
WIDTH ALONG THE MOVEW is the target's size in the direction of the move.
THROUGHPUTfit also gives bits a second, the figure that compares devices fairly.
REFUSED, NOT GUESSEDA target of no width, or a time no width can meet, is refused.
What rides in the card.
In the card’s own voice, with a machine that shows its working.

THE MACHINEpointing.py · five commandsid — the bits of the move; time — the time; size — the width needed; targets — against 24 and 44 px; fit — your own a and b. Every command prints its working and refuses a bad input; 8 checks in its selftest, every command on the record.
What it does once your AI has it.
id The bits of the move
time The time
size The width needed
targets Against 24 and 44 px
fit Your own a and b
On the record 256 px to a 16 px target is 4.09 bits, about 0.71 s on the starting guess; a target 400 px away must be 44 px wide to hit in 0.6 s; 16 px fails the web minimum, 48 px meets both; five measured moves fit a and b.
What it will never do.
It will never present the default a and b as measured; never pass a target under 24 px as fine; never confuse width with height of a long target. It never helps design, make, grow, enhance or spread a pathogen or toxin, or plan work meant to harm.
Quick, aimed moves to targets that are known in advance: searching for a target, dragging, or steering through a tunnel follow other laws. The default a and b are not a measurement of anyone. It is an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong, so check what matters against your own records and the source.

ON EVERY DOOR · A CARD FOR YOUR AI, A FILE FOR YOUR COMPUTER
In Claude: turn on code execution under Settings › Capabilities, then Customize › Skills › + › Create skill, and upload the zip as it is — START-HERE.md in the box walks you through it, and tells you how to keep the ledger. In ChatGPT, Gemini and the rest: a Project, a GPT or a Gem with the card’s files attached and the short door in the box pasted as its instructions. time · THE TIME
$ python3 scripts/pointing.py time 256 16
4.087 bits · 0.713 s with a = 0.1 s and b = 0.15 s a bit (a starting guess: run fit on your own moves)
size · THE WIDTH NEEDED
$ python3 scripts/pointing.py size 400 0.6
to hit a target 400 away within 0.6 s it must be at least 44.1 wide
targets · AGAINST 24 AND 44 PX
$ python3 scripts/pointing.py targets 16 24 32 48

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE
Asked before the wire.
What does it need from me?
Id <distance> <width> · the bits. It asks first for the distance and the width; or a time to meet; or the widths to check; or a CSV of measured moves.
Does it send anything anywhere?
No. The machine is a standard-library Python program that runs on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere; the words run wherever an AI reads Markdown. No server, no account, no key.
What is on the record?
The self-test (8/8) and every command run on real example inputs, pasted into WITNESS.md as they printed; the punch on the face is the SHA-256 of SKILL.md, so a downloaded copy can be checked against this room.
Can it be wrong?
Yes — it is an AI reading a text file. Quick, aimed moves to targets that are known in advance: searching for a target, dragging, or steering through a tunnel follow other laws. The default a and b are not a measurement of anyone.
What will it never do?
It will never present the default a and b as measured; never pass a target under 24 px as fine; never confuse width with height of a long target. It never helps design, make, grow, enhance or spread a pathogen or toxin, or plan work meant to harm.
