THE DESCRIPTION CARD · the words a router reads to wake a skill
WAKES WHEN a skill wakes at the wrong time, or someone writes or reviews a SKILL.md description
THE LOOP
describe.py lint · the eight checks
draft · from the body, if there is none
write the Use-when in the person's words
collide · the pairs that share too much
THE TRIGGER TEST CARD proves it on prompts
NEVER
Open a description on "this skill helps"
Leave out when to use it
Let two skills share a description
IT MAKES lint — the eight checks, a mark out of 8 each; draft — a description from the body: what, when, what it runs; collide — the pairs whose distinctive words overlap past the line.
THE STANDARD the description is the only thing the router reads; third person, what it does, first; use when, in their words; vague words match everything; twelve distinctive words; the draft is a start.

IT CAN BE WRONG an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong and can invent a number, a rule, a name or a date; check what matters against your own records and the source; the risk is yours. THE-CLAUSES.md rides in the packet and is part of the licence.

What it is.
Lints a skill's description against the eight checks a router cares about — present, the right length, opens on what it does in the third person, says when to use it in the words a person would say, no vague words, not first person, names what it runs, enough distinctive words — drafts one from the skill's own body, and finds the pairs of skills in a folder whose descriptions overlap enough to be picked for the same ask.
It carries a machine that shows its working: lint — the eight checks, a mark out of 8 each; draft — a description from the body: what, when, what it runs; collide — the pairs whose distinctive words overlap past the line — 10 checks in its selftest, every command on the record. It will never open a description on "this skill helps"; never leave out when to use it; never let two skills share a description.
Six laws, written into the card.
They are in the card itself, so the AI follows them.
THE DESCRIPTION IS THE ONLY THING THE ROUTER READSEvery word in it is a routing word; every word not in it is unreachable.
THIRD PERSON, WHAT IT DOES, FIRST"Checks a brief…" — the first verb is the first match.
USE WHEN, IN THEIR WORDSThe ask as a person says it, not the feature as the builder names it.
VAGUE WORDS MATCH EVERYTHINGand therefore nothing: powerful, various, helps with — out.
TWELVE DISTINCTIVE WORDSor the router cannot tell this skill from the next; collide names the pairs.
THE DRAFT IS A STARTThe draft is a start, never the end: the Use-when clause is written by someone who has heard the ask.
What rides in the card.
In the card’s own voice, with a machine that shows its working.

THE MACHINEdescribe.py · three commandslint — the eight checks, a mark out of 8 each; draft — a description from the body: what, when, what it runs; collide — the pairs whose distinctive words overlap past the line. Every command prints its working and refuses a bad input; 10 checks in its selftest, every command on the record.
What it does once your AI has it.
lint The eight checks, a mark out of 8 each
draft A description from the body: what, when, what it runs
collide The pairs whose distinctive words overlap past the line
On the record Two descriptions linted — the real one 8/8, the "powerful helper" failing five of eight by name; a description drafted for the helper from its own body with the Use-when left for a person to write; the folder of three checked for collisions, and the two brief cards found waking on the same words.
What it will never do.
It will never open a description on "this skill helps"; never leave out when to use it; never let two skills share a description.
The checks are a floor for form; they cannot tell a true description from a false one. collide measures shared words, not shared meaning: two skills can collide in words and differ in purpose. THE TRIGGER TEST CARD runs the real prompts. It is an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong, so check what matters against your own records and the source.

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE
Asked before the wire.
What does it need from me?
Describe.py lint · the eight checks. It asks first for the SKILL.md files, and the words people actually say when they want each one.
Does it send anything anywhere?
No. The machine is a standard-library Python program that runs on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere; the words run wherever an AI reads Markdown. No server, no account, no key.
What is on the record?
The self-test (10/10) and every command run on real example inputs, pasted into WITNESS.md as they printed; the punch on the face is the SHA-256 of SKILL.md, so a downloaded copy can be checked against this room.
Can it be wrong?
Yes — it is an AI reading a text file. The checks are a floor for form; they cannot tell a true description from a false one. collide measures shared words, not shared meaning: two skills can collide in words and differ in purpose. THE TRIGGER TEST CARD runs the real prompts.
What will it never do?
It will never open a description on "this skill helps"; never leave out when to use it; never let two skills share a description.
