THE HOUSE · ACCESSIBILITY · MEASURED 2026-10-10
Measured, not asserted.
The site audited at WCAG 2.2 AA by its own card: the findings, what was fixed, what only a person can check, and what the site holds itself to.
On 2026-10-10 the studio ran its own THE ACCESSIBILITY CARD (a11y.py audit, WCAG 2.2 at AA) over four rendered pages of this site — the deck, a card room, THE STANDARD and CARD FEEDBACK — as a buyer could. The machine reads code, not the page a browser draws; it is not a certificate, and the card says so with every verdict. This is what it found, and what the studio did about it.
The findings
8 FAIL · 32 WARN · 5 CHECK, over four pages (the same stylesheet counts once per page).
| criterion | page | finding | what the studio did |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2.4.2 | deck.html | the page has no title, or an empty one: it is the first thing a screen reader says and the name on the tab. | NOT A FAULT OF THE SITE: the gate renders the page without its layout; the store sets every page's title (checked in layout/theme.liquid) |
| 1.4.3 | deck.html | html[data-scheme="light"] .bar .node { color: #8A8578; background: #FFFFFF } is 3.68:1; body text needs 4.5:1. | FIXED at 12.357.67: the colour is #7B766B (4.52:1) in the light scheme |

| 2.4.4, 4.1.2 | feedback.html | this link has no accessible name: a screen reader says "link" and nothing more. | NOT A FAULT OF THE SITE: the gate rendered a form-error link template outside Shopify, with no name; the store renders it only with an error, named |
| 1.4.3 | room.html | html[data-scheme="light"] .bar .node { color: #8A8578; background: #FFFFFF } is 3.68:1; body text needs 4.5:1. | FIXED at 12.357.67: the colour is #7B766B (4.52:1) in the light scheme |
| 1.3.1, 3.3.2, 4.1.2 | room.html | <input type="file"> has no label: a screen reader says "edit text" and nothing about what to type. | FIXED at 12.357.67: the punch check's file input carries an aria-label on every room |
| 1.4.3 | standard.html | html[data-scheme="light"] .bar .node { color: #8A8578; background: #FFFFFF } is 3.68:1; body text needs 4.5:1. | FIXED at 12.357.67: the colour is #7B766B (4.52:1) in the light scheme |
The warnings, read by hand
32 warnings at 4.1.2 said a control "sits inside aria-hidden". Every one follows a single <input type="checkbox" aria-hidden="true"> — a void element the machine read as a container, so everything after it was counted inside. The controls are not hidden from a screen reader. The studio has told the card's cutter; the rule stays, the reading is corrected here.
What only a person can check
- 2.2.2 Pause, stop, hide. The site's gentle motion — the menu's beams, the deck's cosmos — runs on loops longer than five seconds. The pause is the scheme control in the top bar: STILL stops every animation and transition on the site, and the reader's own reduced-motion setting does the same. Nothing flashes, anywhere, by house law.
- 1.2.2 Captions. The deck carries two short films with no caption track. Neither has speech; if a future film does, a caption track is owed with it.
- Screen readers. The audit reads code. Full screen-reader testing needs people who use screen readers; that testing is owed, and the card says so.
What the site holds itself to
- White reading surfaces by default, 4.5:1 for body text, 14px as the floor.
- Every form field labelled; every link named; every picture of a card with its alt text.
- The keyboard reaches everything a pointer does; the menu's houses open with Enter, close with Esc.
- No flash, no strobe; STILL for no motion at all.
This statement is re-run and re-cut with the theme. The card that measured it is on the shelf for anyone to run on their own site.
