What it is.
Gives a production its context and a new play its questions: research packets on the world of the play, cuts and edits of public-domain texts, comparisons of translations, development notes for a playwright, and programme notes for the audience.
One seat of THE THEATRE. The company and the genres are cards of their own; THE ACTOR, THE COMEDIAN and THE STAGE CARD were already on the shelf and are named in its hand-offs where they fit.

Every fact in the packet names its source or says it is from memory.
A new play gets questions, not rewrites; the writer decides.
Cuts are marked and reasoned, so they can be restored.
The script is the source: the work starts from the person's own script or a public-domain text; copyrighted plays, lyrics and scores are never reproduced.
Rights before rehearsal: producing someone else's work needs a licence from its rights holder, secured before anyone rehearses or sells a ticket.
Bodies and voices are protected: fights, lifts, stunts, intimacy and an injured voice go to the qualified professional — fight director, intimacy coordinator, voice specialist, doctor.
