THE HOST MARKS · where a skill has run, and how it went there
WAKES WHEN someone asks where a skill has been run, or wants its "works on" claim backed by dates
THE LOOP
hostmarks.py new · the hosts, one row each
run the skill there; keep the witness file
add · host, date, selftest, evals, witness
check · stale or unmarked, named
line · the one line a card prints; badge
NEVER
Mark a host the skill was not run on
Hide a ratio that is not whole
Let a mark older than its term stand as fresh
IT MAKES new — the sheet; add — a mark; check — every host marked? every mark fresh and whole?; line — the one-line marks a card prints; badge — the marks drawn.
THE STANDARD a mark is a host, a date, a ratio and a file; unmarked is a state; stale after its term; ratios are kept whole or shown broken; the witness file sits beside the sheet; one line tells the whole truth.

IT CAN BE WRONG an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong and can invent a number, a rule, a name or a date; check what matters against your own records and the source; the risk is yours. THE-CLAUSES.md rides in the packet and is part of the licence.

What it is.
Keeps the marks sheet for a skill — on which hosts it has actually been run (Claude app, Claude Code, the API, any others named), on what date, with what self-test and eval results and which witness file — checks that every host is marked and every mark fresh, prints the one-line marks a card can carry, and draws them as a badge.
It carries a machine that shows its working: new — the sheet; add — a mark; check — every host marked? every mark fresh and whole?; line — the one-line marks a card prints; badge — the marks drawn — 12 checks in its selftest, every command on the record. It will never mark a host the skill was not run on; never hide a ratio that is not whole; never let a mark older than its term stand as fresh.
Six laws, written into the card.
They are in the card itself, so the AI follows them.
A MARK IS A HOST, A DATE, A RATIO AND A FILEAnything less is a claim.
UNMARKED IS A STATEIt says the skill has not been run there; it is never hidden.
STALE AFTER ITS TERMHosts change under a skill; a mark older than 180 days is named stale.
RATIOS ARE KEPT WHOLE OR SHOWN BROKEN10/12 on a host is more useful than silence.
THE WITNESS FILE SITS BESIDE THE SHEETThe witness file sits beside the sheet, so the mark reads back to the run that earned it.
ONE LINE TELLS THE WHOLE TRUTHWITNESSED ON · host date (evals) · … · unmarked: the rest.
What rides in the card.
In the card’s own voice, with a machine that shows its working.

THE MACHINEhostmarks.py · five commandsnew — the sheet; add — a mark; check — every host marked? every mark fresh and whole?; line — the one-line marks a card prints; badge — the marks drawn. Every command prints its working and refuses a bad input; 12 checks in its selftest, every command on the record.
What it does once your AI has it.

On the record A marks sheet opened for a card with three hosts; a fresh whole mark added for Claude Code and a spring mark with 10 of 12 for the API; check named the API mark stale and not whole and the Claude app unmarked; the one-line marks printed and the badge drawn.
What it will never do.
It will never mark a host the skill was not run on; never hide a ratio that is not whole; never let a mark older than its term stand as fresh.
It records what a person adds; it does not run the skill on any host itself. A mark is as honest as the run behind it, which is why the witness file is required and checked for presence, not content. It is an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong, so check what matters against your own records and the source.

In Claude: turn on code execution under Settings › Capabilities, then Customize › Skills › + › Create skill, and upload the zip as it is — START-HERE.md in the box walks you through it, and tells you how to keep the ledger. In ChatGPT, Gemini and the rest: a Project, a GPT or a Gem with the card’s files attached and the short door in the box pasted as its instructions. Nº 903 PROPOSED — LAUNCHING SOON
Sold as is under the term printed. A card instructs an AI you operate; results depend on your model, your files and your judgement. Not medical, legal, tax or financial advice, never the person’s boss, and not a licence to practise. The terms →
One payment. The file is yours to keep and keeps working at its edition; new editions issued in the year after you buy reach you by email as replacement files. Tax is added at checkout where it applies. Nothing auto-renews.
A TERM, NOT A SUBSCRIPTION: NOTHING RENEWS ITSELF AND NOBODY IS CHARGED AGAIN. WHEN A TERM ENDS THE FILES STAY ON YOUR COMPUTER AND STAY READABLE — FREEZE, NOT LOSS.

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE
Asked before the wire.
What does it need from me?
Hostmarks.py new · the hosts, one row each. It asks first for the hosts the skill is meant for, and a real run on each with its witness file kept.
Does it send anything anywhere?
No. The machine is a standard-library Python program that runs on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere; the words run wherever an AI reads Markdown. No server, no account, no key.
What is on the record?
The self-test (12/12) and every command run on real example inputs, pasted into WITNESS.md as they printed; the punch on the face is the SHA-256 of SKILL.md, so a downloaded copy can be checked against this room.
Can it be wrong?
Yes — it is an AI reading a text file. It records what a person adds; it does not run the skill on any host itself. A mark is as honest as the run behind it, which is why the witness file is required and checked for presence, not content.
What will it never do?
It will never mark a host the skill was not run on; never hide a ratio that is not whole; never let a mark older than its term stand as fresh.
