IT CAN BE WRONG an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong and can invent a number, a rule, a name or a date; check what matters against your own records and the source; the risk is yours. THE-CLAUSES.md rides in the packet and is part of the licence.

What it is.
Works out the expanding universe that Friedmann's equations of 1922 allow and the galaxies' redshifts show: recede gives how fast a galaxy at a distance moves away, at both measured rates, 67.4 and 73.0 km/s per megaparsec, because the early universe and nearby stars still disagree; distance runs it backwards from a speed or a small redshift; age gives the age of a flat universe of matter and dark energy beside the simple 1/H₀; stretch gives how much a length of empty space grows in a time.
It carries a machine that shows its working: recede — the recession speed at both rates; distance — the distance; age — the age; stretch — the growth — 8 checks in its selftest, every command on the record. It will never pick one rate as the truth; never use the simple law at high redshift; never say bound things like us expand. It never helps design, make, grow, enhance or spread a pathogen or toxin, or plan work meant to harm.
Six laws, written into the card.
They are in the card itself, so the AI follows them.
TWO RATES67.4 from the early universe, 73.0 from nearby stars; both are given, because the disagreement is open.
LOW REDSHIFT ONLYv = H₀d holds near us; past z ≈ 0.1 the card stops rather than mislead.
A FLAT UNIVERSEΩm 0.315 and ΩΛ 0.685 by default, the measured values; --om takes others.
BOUND THINGS STAYAtoms, people, planets and galaxies are held together; only the space between unbound things grows.
SLOW ON OUR SCALEA metre of empty space grows by 7.9 × 10⁻¹⁵ m in an hour.
DISTANCES SAID TWO WAYSMegaparsecs and light-years.
What rides in the card.

THE MACHINEexpansion.py · four commandsrecede — the recession speed at both rates; distance — the distance; age — the age; stretch — the growth. Every command prints its working and refuses a bad input; 8 checks in its selftest, every command on the record.
What it does once your AI has it.
recede The recession speed at both rates
distance The distance
age The age
stretch The growth
On the record 100 Mpc recedes at 6,740 or 7,300 km/s by the two rates; z = 0.02 is about 89 Mpc; the universe is 13.8 billion years old; a metre of empty space grows by 7.9 × 10⁻¹⁵ m in an hour.
What it will never do.
It will never pick one rate as the truth; never use the simple law at high redshift; never say bound things like us expand. It never helps design, make, grow, enhance or spread a pathogen or toxin, or plan work meant to harm.
No radiation era, no curvature beyond flat, no peculiar velocities: a galaxy's own motion can swamp the expansion nearby. It is an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong, so check what matters against your own records and the source.

ON EVERY DOOR · A CARD FOR YOUR AI, A FILE FOR YOUR COMPUTER
In Claude: turn on code execution under Settings › Capabilities, then Customize › Skills › + › Create skill, and upload the zip as it is — START-HERE.md in the box walks you through it, and tells you how to keep the ledger. In ChatGPT, Gemini and the rest: a Project, a GPT or a Gem with the card’s files attached and the short door in the box pasted as its instructions. The words run anywhere an AI reads Markdown; the machines run wherever the host runs Python. Witnessed in Claude only. The host marks →

Nº 1135 PROPOSED — LAUNCHING SOON
Sold as is under the term printed. A card instructs an AI you operate; results depend on your model, your files and your judgement. Not medical, legal, tax or financial advice, never the person’s boss, and not a licence to practise. The terms →
One payment. The file is yours to keep and keeps working at its edition; new editions issued in the year after you buy reach you by email as replacement files. Tax is added at checkout where it applies. Nothing auto-renews.

recede · THE RECESSION SPEED AT BOTH RATES
$ python3 scripts/expansion.py recede 100 Mpc
100 Mpc (100 Mpc): receding at 6,740 km/s at 67.4 · 7,300 km/s at 73.0
distance · THE DISTANCE
$ python3 scripts/expansion.py distance --z 0.02
5,996 km/s: 88.96 Mpc at 67.4 · 82.13 Mpc at 73.0 (290.1 and 267.9 million light-years)
age · THE AGE
$ python3 scripts/expansion.py age
H₀ 67.4, Ωm 0.315, ΩΛ 0.685: the universe is 13.796 billion years old · the simple 1/H₀ says 14.507
stretch · THE GROWTH
$ python3 scripts/expansion.py stretch 1 3600
1 m of empty, unbound space grows by 7.863e-15 m (67.4) or 8.517e-15 m (73.0) in that time

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE
Asked before the wire.
What does it need from me?
Recede <distance> · both rates. It asks first for a distance, a speed or a small redshift; or a length and a time.
Does it send anything anywhere?
No. The machine is a standard-library Python program that runs on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere; the words run wherever an AI reads Markdown. No server, no account, no key.
What is on the record?
The self-test (8/8) and every command run on real example inputs, pasted into WITNESS.md as they printed; the punch on the face is the SHA-256 of SKILL.md, so a downloaded copy can be checked against this room.
Can it be wrong?
Yes — it is an AI reading a text file. No radiation era, no curvature beyond flat, no peculiar velocities: a galaxy's own motion can swamp the expansion nearby.
What will it never do?
It will never pick one rate as the truth; never use the simple law at high redshift; never say bound things like us expand. It never helps design, make, grow, enhance or spread a pathogen or toxin, or plan work meant to harm.
