THE MEMORY LEDGER CARD · a person's AI memory: every read, every fix
WAKES WHEN someone wants to see what their AI remembers, who read it, or to correct it
THE LOOP
record · a memory kept, its fingerprint

IT MAKES record — kept, fingerprinted; read — a reading, flagged if unaccounted; correct — a change or a removal; history — every entry, every memory's state, the chain; match — MATCH, or what changed.
THE STANDARD a ledger, not a store; who and when, every time; corrections from the truth; unaccounted readings flagged; changes show; the person's file.

IT CAN BE WRONG an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong and can invent a number, a rule, a name or a date; check what matters against your own records and the source; the risk is yours. THE-CLAUSES.md rides in the packet and is part of the licence.

What it is.
A person's long-term AI memory, as a record they can read and correct. It is a ledger, not a memory store: record notes that a memory was kept, by whom and when, with a SHA-256 fingerprint of its words and never the words; read notes each time an AI or an app used it and why, and flags a reading of a memory never recorded or already removed; correct records a change or a removal with its reason, refusing one made from words that no longer match; history lays out every entry, each memory's state, the flags and whether the chain holds; match says whether the memory as it reads now is MATCH, CHANGED WITHOUT AN ENTRY, REMOVED or NOT RECORDED. It waits on AI products reporting each reading and change; today the person or their own tools write the entries.
It carries a machine that shows its working: record — kept, fingerprinted; read — a reading, flagged if unaccounted; correct — a change or a removal; history — every entry, every memory's state, the chain; match — MATCH, or what changed — 8 checks in its selftest, every command on the record. It will never keep a memory's words in the ledger; never take an email or a phone number as who; never let an entry change without the chain saying.
Six laws, written into the card.
They are in the card itself, so the AI follows them.
A LEDGER, NOT A STOREIt keeps fingerprints and a few words of label or reason, never a memory's words.
WHO AND WHEN, EVERY TIMEEach entry names the person, or an AI or an app by role or id, and the minute.
CORRECTIONS FROM THE TRUTHA correction names the words as they are now; stale words are refused.
UNACCOUNTED READINGS FLAGGEDA reading of a memory never recorded, or already removed, is flagged.
CHANGES SHOWmatch names a memory changed with no entry; the chain names an entry changed after it was written.
THE PERSON'S FILEOne plain file the person keeps, as privately as the memory itself.
What rides in the card.
In the card’s own voice, with a machine that shows its working.

THE MACHINEmemledger.py · five commandsrecord — kept, fingerprinted; read — a reading, flagged if unaccounted; correct — a change or a removal; history — every entry, every memory's state, the chain; match — MATCH, or what changed. Every command prints its working and refuses a bad input; 8 checks in its selftest, every command on the record.
What it does once your AI has it.
record Kept, fingerprinted
read A reading, flagged if unaccounted
correct A change or a removal
history Every entry, every memory's state, the chain
match MATCH, or what changed
On the record Two memories recorded by fingerprint (one by the person, one by the assistant), one read to plan the week, and the wrong race corrected by the person; a correction from the old, stale words is refused, and a reading of a memory never recorded is flagged. match says MATCH for the corrected words and CHANGED WITHOUT AN ENTRY for a memory edited off the record; one memory is removed, and history shows 6 entries, 1 flag and a chain that holds.
What it will never do.
It will never keep a memory's words in the ledger; never take an email or a phone number as who; never let an entry change without the chain saying.
It waits on AI products reporting each reading and change of a memory; until then the person or their own tools write the entries, and a reading nobody wrote down is not seen. A fingerprint of a short line can be matched by someone who guesses its exact words, so keep the ledger as privately as the memory. It is not a memory store and never changes the memory itself. It is an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong, so check what matters against your own records and the source.

In ChatGPT, Gemini and the rest: a Project, a GPT or a Gem with the card’s files attached and the short door in the box pasted as its instructions. One payment. The file is yours to keep and keeps working at its edition; new editions issued in the year after you buy reach you by email as replacement files. Tax is added at checkout where it applies. Nothing auto-renews.

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE
Asked before the wire.
What does it need from me?
Record · a memory kept, its fingerprint. It asks first for each memory's id and its words as kept (to fingerprint, not to store), who recorded, read or corrected it, and why.
Does it send anything anywhere?
No. The machine is a standard-library Python program that runs on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere; the words run wherever an AI reads Markdown. No server, no account, no key.
What is on the record?
The self-test (8/8) and every command run on real example inputs, pasted into WITNESS.md as they printed; the punch on the face is the SHA-256 of SKILL.md, so a downloaded copy can be checked against this room.
Can it be wrong?
Yes — it is an AI reading a text file.
What will it never do?
It will never keep a memory's words in the ledger; never take an email or a phone number as who; never let an entry change without the chain saying.
