THE STANDARD five parts or it is not a position; a noun they already know; one difference; proof in the sentence; jargon is what a buyer would not say about you to a colleague; five buyers are the test.

What it is.
Checks a positioning statement, messaging doc or landing page for the five parts a position needs — for whom, what it is, what it replaces, the one difference and the proof — and names what is missing; counts the jargon word by word, flags superlatives with no proof in their sentence, passive voice and length; sweeps a folder of pages for the buzzwords used most; and gives the worksheet to fill in with the team.
It carries a machine that shows its working: worksheet — the five-part worksheet; check — the parts found or missing, jargon, bare superlatives, passive voice, length; jargon — the buzzword count across pages, worst first — 9 checks in its selftest, every command on the record. It will never ship a superlative with no proof beside it; never call "businesses" a buyer; never keep three differences: that is none.
Six laws, written into the card.
They are in the card itself, so the AI follows them.
FIVE PARTS OR IT IS NOT A POSITIONFor whom, what, instead of what, unlike what, because of what — the machine names the missing ones.
A NOUN THEY ALREADY KNOWA new category costs more than you have; "a tagging tool" beats a platform of anything.
ONE DIFFERENCEThree is a feature list; a feature list is not a position.
PROOF IN THE SENTENCEA superlative without a number, a customer or a mechanism beside it is cut.
JARGON IS WHAT A BUYER WOULD NOT SAY ABOUT YOU TO A COLLEAGUECounted word by word; say what each means here, or cut it.
FIVE BUYERS ARE THE TESTTheir first words, written down, decide the rewrite — not the team's taste.
What rides in the card.
In the card’s own voice, with a machine that shows its working.

worksheet The five-part worksheet
check The parts found or missing, jargon, bare superlatives, passive voice, length
jargon The buzzword count across pages, worst first
On the record The worksheet; a buzzword paragraph checked — no FOR, no INSTEAD, no BECAUSE, eight kinds of jargon, a bare "fastest"; the plain rewrite with all five parts; and a three-page site swept, the home page worst.
What it will never do.
It will never ship a superlative with no proof beside it; never call "businesses" a buyer; never keep three differences: that is none.
It reads words; a statement can have all five parts and still be wrong about the market — that is tested with real buyers, not a machine. The jargon list is a convention the team edits in the file. Part detection is by pattern and can miss an unusual phrasing. It is an AI reading a text file: it can be wrong, so check what matters against your own records and the source.

FOR — who exactly? Narrow enough that they recognise themselves. Not "businesses": "support teams of 5 to 50 at software companies".
-
WHAT — what is it, in a noun they already know? ("a shared inbox", "a plate-layout tool", not "a platform").
-
INSTEAD — what do they use today? (a spreadsheet · an agency · a bigger tool · nothing). Why does it fall short, in their words?
-
UNLIKE — the one difference that matters to that buyer. One. If you have three, you have none.
-
BECAUSE — why believe it: a number (with its source and date), a named customer (with permission), or a mechanism they can see.
-
The statement, in one breath (under 60 words), the way a seller would say it on a call:
"For ___ who ___, (product) is a ___ that ___. Unlike ___, it ___, because ___."
Test: read it to five buyers. Write down the first thing each one says. If they ask "so what is it?", WHAT failed. If they shrug, UNLIKE failed.

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE
Asked before the wire.
What does it need from me?
Positioning.py worksheet · with the team. It asks first for the statement or page as a text file, who it is for, and what those buyers use today.
Does it send anything anywhere?
No. The machine is a standard-library Python program that runs on your own computer and sends nothing anywhere; the words run wherever an AI reads Markdown. No server, no account, no key.
What is on the record?
The self-test (9/9) and every command run on real example inputs, pasted into WITNESS.md as they printed; the punch on the face is the SHA-256 of SKILL.md, so a downloaded copy can be checked against this room.
Can it be wrong?
Yes — it is an AI reading a text file. It reads words; a statement can have all five parts and still be wrong about the market — that is tested with real buyers, not a machine. The jargon list is a convention the team edits in the file. Part detection is by pattern and can miss an unusual phrasing.
What will it never do?
It will never ship a superlative with no proof beside it; never call "businesses" a buyer; never keep three differences: that is none.
