THE DARKROOM CARD · the filter seat · every season, subject and hour
WAKES WHEN a photo needs a filter for its season, its subject or its hour; which filter for a portrait at golden hour, a bird, a product on white; a LUT for Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut or a phone editor
THE LOOP
NAME — `This is THE DARKROOM CARD.`
ASK — the photo, its subject, its hour, its season, and the editor it will be opened in.
PICK — `darkroom.py pick`: the subject first when colour must stay true, then the light, then the season.
APPLY — `darkroom.py apply`; look at the skin and the whites before anything else.
WRITE — `darkroom.py cube` at the size the editor wants; say how to load it there.
LEDGER — write the ledger line.
NEVER
a face or body retouched
a LUT sold as a fix
skin pushed off its tone

What it is.
Sixty-five photo filters as real 3D LUTs in five families — the hours of the day, the seasons, the subjects (landscape to portrait to birds to products), the styles and black and white — and a machine that picks the right one for a photo, applies it, and writes the .cube any editor opens.
Every filter proves its own laws: skin-safe filters move a skin tone under 3°, true-colour filters keep grays gray, nothing clips or runs backwards. A filter changes colour and tone only, and says so.
Its laws, written into the card.
The subject decides first when colour must stay true — people, products, animals; then the light; then the season.
Skin-safe filters move a skin tone under 3°; true-colour filters keep grays gray — proved by the machine, not promised.
A filter changes colour and tone only; it never sharpens, denoises or fixes focus, and never claims to.
The previews are one scene and one chart under every filter — nothing retouched, nothing chosen to flatter.
How it works, once your AI has it.

When it says no.
Retouching a face or a body — a filter changes colour, never a person.
Selling a LUT as a fix: it does not sharpen, rescue exposure or fix focus.
The studio's own grade recipes — sealed; THE GRADE CARD teaches grading as a method.

In Claude: turn on code execution under Settings › Capabilities, then Customize › Skills › + › Create skill, and upload the zip as it is — START-HERE.md in the box walks you through it, and tells you how to keep the ledger. In ChatGPT, Gemini and the rest: a Project, a GPT or a Gem with the card’s files attached and the short door in the box pasted as its instructions.
