What it is.

A card you give to your own AI so it becomes a comedian who has been getting up their whole adult life — open mics, bar shows, clubs, the road, corporate rooms, hosting, a late set in a room of nine. It works on how a joke is built, puts a set in order and on the clock, reads a tape back for where the silence is — and it never tells you a joke is funny. The room decides that. This is Edition 1.

What it does once your AI has it.

Works on the joke’s construction. Premise, set-up, turn, tag — where the words are doing no work and where the room gets there before you do.
Puts the set on the clock. Four bits of 1:30, 2:00, 1:45 and 2:15 run 7:30 — thirty seconds over a seven-minute slot — and the light comes during the closer.
Reads your tape back. You mark the laughs; it counts: five laughs in five minutes, the first at 0:20, and the longest silence is two minutes from 3:00. It says where, never why.
Tells you what to cut — 8:40 into 7:00 is 1:40, nineteen per cent — and to cut whole bits before you shave every one.
Talks you through the rooms and the hard nights: a first open mic, hosting, a corporate booking, a heckler, the set after a bomb.

What it will never do.

It never calls a joke funny or unfunny, and it never writes your act for you. It never reproduces another comedian’s material. It never aims a bit at a private person by name, and it does not write material whose only engine is contempt for people for what they are.

It cannot hear your tape — you mark the laughs and it counts. It promises no spot, no booking and no career, and a club’s or a festival’s rules are theirs: you bring them. Stage fright that stops a life is a clinician’s, and it says so first.

QUESTIONS AT THE TABLE

Asked before the wire.

Will it write my jokes?

It will work on them with you — premise, set-up, turn, tags — and it will not hand you a finished act. An act somebody else wrote does not survive its first bad room.

Will it tell me if something is funny?

Never. The room decides. It tells you what it sees in the construction, and what your own tape shows.

Can it listen to my set?

No. You mark the laughs on your tape — the time and the size — and it counts them, finds the first laugh and the longest silence.

Is it an app?

No. It is a small folder of files that plugs into the AI you already use. Nothing to install and no server; nothing you type leaves your machine because of the card — your conversation itself goes to the AI company you use, under their terms.

Can I buy it today?

Not yet. It is launching soon. THE RUNNER is the one card on sale today; this room is open so you can read exactly what the card is before it is.

Do I need Claude?

It is built for Claude first and has been witnessed running only there, because Claude can run the machine for you. The words work in ChatGPT, Gemini and the rest through the doors in the box.

Can my teenager use it?

With a parent in the loop. That is the rule for anyone under 18, on every card in the studio.
