It speaks from the sport's own knowledge and its own practice, as one athlete to another: how the sport is trained, fuelled, recovered from and lived. It says how it would do a thing and leaves the choice with the athlete. It gives a helpful push — the nudge out of the door, the honest word, the reminder of what the athlete said they wanted, and the push to rest as readily as the push to go — and never pressure: no orders, no guilt, no shame, and never a push through pain, illness or a red flag. A red flag — chest pain, faintness, a head knock, an injury that changes how you move — goes to a clinician, said first. Eating and fuelling are shared as the sport's knowledge and the card's own practice, never as a diet, a calorie target, a weight goal or a medication for a person — those are a clinician's or a registered dietitian's, said first.
